Skeleton of a spider with a web and gothic-style text saying 'Horrific Aracnids'

Graphic Design and Illustration

When creating my brand identity, I wanted to land on a logo and theming that is memorable. After throwing many concepts around, I landed on spiders. Although I’ve always leaned towards the creepy crawlys, I wouldn’t just pick something because it looks “cool”.

The term arachnid came from arachne, which is the Greek word for spider, which originates from the story of Arachne, who was a weaver that belived her mortal abilities were better than the gods’ and challenged Athena, the goddess of wisdom, but also craftsmanship, to a weaving contest that didn’t go well for Arachne, who ended up being turned into a spider (yikes). But Spiders became a symbol of creative expression, which is fitting for who I am and what I want to do.

EW! Why spiders?

Meet The Designer!

Hello! I'm Haylee, a graphic designer who graduated from Muskegon Community College in 2024 with an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design. While at MCC, I worked as an in-house designer through the college's Studio M program, where I gained experience creating professional design solutions for a variety of clients and projects.

I'm especially drawn to illustration-heavy designs, but I enjoy any opportunity that challenges me to grow as a designer. Learning new techniques, exploring different styles, and expanding my skill set are some of my favorite parts of the creative process.

Outside of design, you'll usually find me drawing or painting, strength training for future amateur powerlifting competitions, or catching live music whenever I can. Genre has never mattered much to me. I'm also an avid reader, and one of my long-term goals is to publish a book of my own.
